Charles Eames, Ray Eames: “LCM”. Early lounge chair with steel rod frame. Molded, black lacquered plywood seat and back. Designed 1946. Manufactured approx. 1951–1952 by Herman Miller.
Provenance: Hanne & Poul Kjærholm, hence by descent in the family.
In the early 1950s Hanne and Poul Kjærholm moved from Copenhagen to Rødovre. They had been offered to rent a terraced house in “Carlsro”, designed by Arne Jacobsen a.o., whom Poul had met at Fritz Hansen. The Kjærholms were able to rent the house at a reduced rate by opening and showing their Modernly decorated home to prospective tenants. This afforded the couple to buy Eames' “LCM” lounge chair on a trip to Germany. The photos show this very chair in their living room in Carlsro.

LCM 初期のスチール製ラウンジチェア 黒漆塗りの成形合板の座面と背もたれ 1946年デザイン Herman Miller社により1951年～1952年頃に製造されたもの
由来：ハンネ&ポール・ケアホルム夫妻より その後一族内で継承されてきたもの
1950年代初頭、ハンネとポール・ケアホルム夫妻はコペンハーゲンからルードーヴェへ移住しました
ケアホルムはFritz Hansen社に入社した際にアルネ・ヤコブセンと出会い ヤコブセンらが設計した集合住宅「Carlsro」のテラスハウスを借りることを勧められました
ケアホルム夫妻は 内装をモダンに施し自宅を内見希望者に公開することで 家賃を割引価格で借りることができました
これにより夫妻はドイツ旅行でイームズの「LCM」ラウンジチェアを購入する余裕が生まれました
写真に写っているのはカールスローの自宅リビングに置かれたまさにこの椅子です

Original patinated condition. Frame with rust and tarnish. Seat and back with scratches, marks, notches and wear on black lacquer.
